Well, it looks like spring has finally come - what a perfect time to be pregnant... The picture was taken today, showing obvious signs of what is going on. Skadi has now an abdominal girth of nearly 90cm, which is an immense increase. She is unbelieveable affectionate and of course hungry like a wolf. Today is the 48th day of the pregnancy and this means, it's time to look for potential puppy-owners soon.

Actually we prefer E-Mails - we are used to be outside alot when the weather is good - so you could have bad luck when trying to ring - but you can send us your number and we will ring you back.
Since we wanted to give Skadi the chance to get used to the whelping box in the right time, we finished it already one week ago. And she is taking the chance and enjoys it on a regular basis. With it's 1,20m x 1,20m this is now the dominating piece of furniture in our living room. Against all expectations it is only Skadi who uses the box - Isa stays outside. It seems they have a kind of agreement that this one is "for pregnant bitches only"!
Since yesterday, some minutes after 6 o'clock in the evening, we know it for sure - Skadi is pregnant!After some very long minutes without finding any puppies on the ultra-sound screen at all, disappointment was close... But then, finally the first pup was visible and we could breathe again! After looking a bit longer and closer there was a second, then a third and finally a fourth one appearing on the screen and we could start to calm down. Looking at these small beating hearts was kind of overwhelming!!!As ultra sound isn't that accurate when it comes to the exact number of puppies, we only know that it will be at least four - maybe even more. But the vet told us not to expect a big litter at all.Actually I like the thought of a smaller litter - easier for the dog, easier for us ;)This means that the first swedish puppies ever are expected to be born around the 21/22 of april.

Also Skadi's insatiable hunger and her tries to burrow herself into every hole are certainly signs for the approaching event...
Apart from that everything is going it's more or less normal ways - Skadi still enjoys her play with Isa in the spring sun. But it seems like the days are getting harder for Isa now.
